WP Mage – An Honest, Unbiased Review
Editor Note: My opinion on WP Mage has change since first writing this post back in early 2010. Make sure to view/read comments at bottom as that is where updates/views are being added since this post was originally written(7/4/2011 Mage Monster[see my post] is update to WP Mage but everything below is still relevant as WP Mage plugins/method is still the core of Mage Monster) :
I noticed recently that WP Mage is for sale again as it has been closed to new users for a few months and I figured I would write this post since there are some people looking for an honest review of the WP Mage software that isn’t being pushed with an affiliate link. WP Mage is an autoblogging set of plugins for creating autoblogs that also offers some additional tools like keyword generator for products and expired domain search, etc….
I am not sure what the latest price is for Mage but last I heard it was $1,000. I know it is being pushed by super affiliates as push button solution for creating autoblogs with little to no work and that the creator generates $10,000 a month doing it.
First off, what is WP Mage: it is a set up plugins and resources that allow you to quickly create a wordpress website with content and affiliate products. WP Mage consists of the following: (editor note – read my long 11/12/10 comment at bottom of this post regarding my views on these specific Mage tools/plugins)
Plugins/Software:
- CP Mage – an autoinstaller that allows you to add/delete sites quickly and control all of them from one place.
- Content Mage – brings in articles, yahoo answers, youtube and flickr photos.
- Affiliate Mage – posts affiliate products from Commission Junction, Ebay, Amazon, and Chitaka, and Linkshare.
- Posting Mage – Allows you to create the layout for posts including ability to use custom templates for post and add/change to existing posts.
- Sitemap Mage – Creates sitemap with list of all pages
- Link Mage – Will automatically generate a database of links to internal pages, and insert cross links into every post.
Other features included:
- Index Mage – list of free sites that allows you to submit your site to quickly for improving chances of getting indexed quickly.
- Domain Mage – pulls data from GoDaddy regarding expired domains and their backlinks/age/pagerank
- Keyword Tools: Keyword Mage scrapes ebay auction keywords for a category to create posts & Word Mage will generate keywords from scraping Amazon/Google products
So onto my review………I have been using WP Mage since November 2009. I have built over 100 sites with Mage and know the product very well. I will agree that the software does a good job of creating automated content, wordpress site setup, and affiliate product integration. Relative to most autoblog content plugins/tools, WP Mage is one of the better ones.
The negative on the WP Mage is that like most affiliate products…..the actual results from the product don’t necessarily live up to the hype. It is a great tool for really helping someone that is new to autoblogging to figure everything out but don’t expect to be making $10,000 a month anytime soon. The forums for WP Mage is quite active so many user share their results from using the product and some of the 1st mage users(so they have been using it for over 6months) that are considered “successful” generate maybe $5,000 a month from over 400 sites. I would say that $5,000 a month from Mage sites is the RARITY and definitely NOT the norm. (7/12/10 Note – I recently saw a post from one of the first mage users who I thought was doing well and she is only making $2,000 for 450 sites using WP Mage, although she is following the spray and pray method of blasting out tons of sites. )
I know that the sales videos for WP Mage show that “bad sites” just generate $30 a month in adsense or something but I can say that feedback from myself and many users on the forums that most of your sites will generate no where near $30 a month per site…..
I think the main flaw in WP Mage system is that is focused around blasting out sites with little to no work on SEO/Backlinking/site setup……Essentially the Mage method is more Spray and Pray type of blasting out hundreds of sites and hoping they work. Personally I have not experienced any success with the Spray and Pray method except to have a lot of sites with no traffic and thousands of indexed pages in google just sucking up hard drive space on my hosting accounts. Just because your sites have thousands of indexed pages doesn’t mean you will get loads of traffic.
So WP Mage is great for creating a nice looking autoblog that allows you to mix around the content with affiliate products due to their templating system but you still need to think out your site with proper SEO,backlinking,etc…..to get the traffic to it.
I think that anyone interested in being successful in Autoblogging really needs to have a more organized approach to creating a viable website with proper setup and optimization. That is why I have recommended everyone who is interested in Autobloging or even just WordPress site creation should get Autoblog Blue Print. Here is my review on Autoblog Blueprint . Mike the creator(and very successful autoblogger who does over $40,000/month) of Autoblog Blueprint uses WP Mage as one of his tools and likes WP Mage, but also points out the flaws in Spray & Pray method of creating sites.
The other topic worth mentioning about WP Mage is that the majority of the income from Mage users sites that are making much(including the creator of Mage) is from Ebay Partner Network(EPN). I think that is a big shock to most new WP Mage users because they get the Mage product and then realize that Mage is really most successful for people who are creating EPN based sites. Unfortunately EPN is notoriously difficult to get into and very random at arbitrarily closing down EPN affiliates on a whim. I personally make more from Amazon and other affiliate networks than I do with EPN.
Autoblogging takes work and lots of learning. I think most people would be better off getting Autoblog Blueprint to learn a more complete roadmap for being successful at autoblogging and to see if autoblogging is the right method for them. There are so many great autobloging tools and software that is constantly coming on to the market and WP Mage is just one of them.
Also don’t expect to see much if any results from your Mage built sites within the first months so not sure how helpful the 30day guarantee is for WP Mage.
Anyways, if you are confused and constantly comparing/reading about all the different autoblogging tools then just get Auto Blog Blueprint first. WP Mage is a good software but it not the end all be all to autoblogging.
I bet this is the only review of WP Mage on the web that isn’t done with lots of WP Mage affiliate links……lol…….because WP Mage commission is BIG !!!
7/12/10 Update – I saw WP Mage is being pushed again by Epic Traffic guys and I honestly will say that you should NOT buy WP Mage if you are just starting out. Knowing what I know now about WP Mage and autoblogging, etc….I would first buy and absorb everything in Autoblog Blueprint (see my post on ABB 2.0) and then go from there.
For example something I have learned in Autoblog Blueprint after using WP Mage for a while is that while WP Mage provides you with an auto installer called CP Mage that works as a dashboard to control your sites and makes it easy to install new sites……the problem is is installs the sites as add-on & subdomains and links your sites and can make it difficult to move sites around when they are attached to that CPMage install. I could go on an on about these things but essentially you should just get Autoblog Blueprint first and learn the right way for building out autoblogs. If you want a decent plugin that delivers much of the same content as WP Mage then get WP Robot for a lot less and use the savings to get other useful autoblog tools for building traffic to your site, plugins for creating review sites, etc…..
11/2/10 – I thought I would follow up on this post as autoblog continues to evolve and there are an enormous amount of new autoblog products constantly coming to market like Blog Blueprint (not to be confused with Autoblog Blueprint) but I still stand by my comments above that autoblogs have to be well thought out sites that need to look “real” to visitors and have some initial unique content and some decent backlinks which is NOT the Mage method. Auto Blog Blueprint is still tops in my opinion for best autoblogging and overall wordpress site building out there. The Autoblog Blueprint forums are my main source for staying up on changes in software, new techniques, product discounts, and everything involving autoblog methods. There is a new version that will come out soon as Mike(the creator) continues to refine his strategy and shows what works for building powerful sites for the long term (not garbage spam looking sites that eventually get deindexed by google). Regarding WP Mage lately, I don’t find the questions or content to be very informative and really just use the Mage plugins and that is it.
11/11/10 update: The amount of software that keeps coming out for autoblogging and automation is great and I think WP Robot will meet your needs instead of WP Mage especially for the price difference. Mage main plugins are Affiliate Mage, Content Mage and Posting Mage(there are some other plugins like link mage and index mage that aren’t as great as other free alternative plugins so I don’t use those Mage plugins). These plugins work well but I really only use content mage and posting mage. Affiliate mage isn’t great for amazon or ebay product feeds so I use phpzon/reviewazon for amazon products and phpbay for ebay. Also, I am kind of disgruntled in the way that Greg(Mage creator) just constantly recommends all the latest products on Mage users. Some of the products are downright crap(I’ve mentioned some on here before) and I think he has lost his credibility as trustworthy vs. someone like Mike at Autoblog Blueprint who will tell you if something is crap and continually turns down promoting products(with big payouts) if they are inferior or not in the best interest of his members.
3/14/2011 : With the recent and contined changes in Google’s Search algorithem I think you would be wasting your time following the WP Mage method of blasting out sites. That method is becoming obsolete. Honestly you need to learn an effective method for how to build an autoblog first before buying all the software or your will end up with worthless non-ranking sites. WP Mage plugins are decent but WP Robot over the last year
SUMMARY:
- Look at Autoblog Blueprint to show you what to do and provide a complete understanding of what to do. ABB also provides the best quality forum to answer all your questions and free upgrades.
- Then you can get your content/monetization plugins like WP Robot.
- Then use the additional savings(from not buying WP Mage) you can cover your hosting costs, buy traffic tools/services, outsource article writing, or buy some expired domains.

Great post! I loved how you went into so much detail and gave an honest impression of how you felt & your experiences
THANK YOU!!! I purchased WPMage on Sunday, logged in and just felt uncomfortable with what I found there. I personally do not like using things that someone wants to reference in witchcraft like his Spellbook etc. That was my first TURN OFF. Then while on youtube looking for a few other videos on another software unrelated I found your page and videos. I appreciate the honesty especially as I’m a newbie…sort of and wanting to get this online thing going well…and not waste my money. Many thanks!!
oh I forgot to say I requested my refund ASAP!!
Thanks for your review. Really thinking about solutions for affiliate marketing with blogging… I`ll read your auto blog blueprint review…
Your review of WP Mage confirms what I have been telling a few people who have asked me for my assistance with getting their Mage sites up, which is setting up the site is only the beginning. WP Mage is definitely a good system for setting up sites quickly but my thinking has always been that instead of setting up tons of sites and hope for the best, one needs to optimise the sites for maximum advantage.
I also use WP Robot and agree that it is better value for money considering how cheap it is compared to WP Mage.
Will check out Auto Blogging Blueprint, thanks to your review
So refreshing to see someone being honest in a review where they could make more by not being truthful.
[...] just leave an autoblog alone and never follow up on it(I am guilty of this when I was building WP Mage sites). It was dumb and I have lots of useless domains to show for it. If you spend the time to [...]
Interesting point of view, but hardly an unbiased review as your title indicates, since you are obviously promoting other products. When the newbies fail with substandard programs, they WILL wish they bought WP Mage instead.
Hello, WP Mage Review…..I removed your URL link because I don’t give backlinks unless site is non-affiliate(or at least not a 1 sided opinion) but here is url if readers want to cut/paste to view your site wpmagereview. org
Yes I get a referral commission of about $35 for referring Autoblog Blueprint but seems like if I wanted to really make money I would be smarter for me to say buy WP Mage so I can get a $400-500 commission(I dont even have . Not sure why you would call any of the stuff I referenced in this post “substandard” as even your site says you are coming out with a site just for WP Robot? (hopefully you actually bought/use WP Robot before creating a whole site talking about it)….WP Robot does pretty much everything WP Mage plugins do for a total cost of $160 vs. WP Mage $1000.
They both pull the same content sources and both can customize posting layouts. Both pull affiliate products but I use phpzon/phpbay/reviewazon for ebay and amazon(I only use affiliate mage for Commission junction ads which WP Robot also provides. Wp Mage users(including mage founder Greg) mostly make their income from Ebay yet Greg and most others dont even use affiliate mage for ebay ads, they use phpbay because its far better.
CP Mage will link your sites and even Greg(Mage founder) doesn’t use it. Also can make if hard to move individual sites later on.
Posting Mage is my favorite mage plugin but you can use templates/change content layout also with WP Robot too. The Link Mage plugin isn’t very good and there are other free, better alternative to do in-text linking like Cross linker plugin or SEOROI’s Internal Link Building plugin. Sitemap mage isn’t good and most Mage users in the know just use the free Dagon Design Sitemap Generator plugin instead.
The keyword tools Word Wizard and Keywork Mage are OK but can pull a lot of poor content and the Mage method of instantly creating 10,000 pages isnt the most effective site building method much anymore not with Google’s mayday search algorithem change.
The domain mage is broken/old data alot in the past(maybe better now?) but there are other free alternative that provide that data. Also Mike at autoblog blueprint will be coming out with a free alternative soon (if will be free because he gets a small referral commission when you buy thru his site). Also Domain Samurai(from makers of Market Samurai) is free too.
The mage forums are not very useful nowadays and I find Autoblog Blueprint forums much more knowledgeable and on top of how to do things. Mage support is for very basic stuff.
So you can spend $1000 on Mage or for a lot less get Auto blog Blueprint for $100 and WP robot for $160. The use that savings for other things like better monetization plugins or traffic services.
Also, I get tired of seeing the amount of products that Greg Jacobs pushes a lot of the high paying affiliate offers some of which aren’t related to autoblogging…….I mean like Epic Traffic Systems that most people didnt make money with and spend thousands on but Greg was the largest affiliate for, Whereas, Mike of autoblog blueprint created the install package for Epic Traffic Systems Keith Baxter but didn’t really recommend the product much and he has criticized quite a few product that were inferior. This launch this week with Alex Goad’s Authority Pro Theme he offered as a bonus for buying thru him, a plugin called Backlink Mage which is a rework of the free Deep Link plugin Alex gave free in his past product Auto Content Cash(which was not good plugin or product). Also there are some other low priced alternative to Alex Goad’s Authority Pro Theme that seem to do most of the same thing and Alex Goad has a lot of people who have been burned by his past products. (note- I haven’t tried backlink mage or Authority pro theme but i’ve read complaints about Alex Goad prior products/poor support )
Conclusion, if i wanted to create a biased post to endorse a product wouldnt it be smarter to push $1000 Mage with $1000 Auto Blog Blueprint or $160 Wp Robot, so that I got a bigger commission ? I’ll let the readers here decide.
I purchased the Master Mage package early this year. I like a lot of others was completely amazed at the presentation on the webinar.
After months of trying to workout how to configure setting up the core settings and everthing else, I finally got my site up and running.
Since the day I launched my site, I HAVE NOT MADE A PENNY!!
Here’s the major problem, which many other newbies like myself will do.
1) You will start pending lots money on other products (recommended by Greg), especially to get the amazing bonus to plugin.
2) You will find now that you have try the new product that you’ve now bought, and start to realise, that you don’t have time to juggle so many different products and you still haven’t made a red cent and your debt is now starting to pile up.
Fellow newbies please take my following advice;
1) Do not give up – you can’t afford to, you have to pay off the other products which have just purchased!
2) Research the product before buying (Remeber they’re just like shiney coins).
3) All of these so called Gurus are just sales people, once you have given them your money, you may find that your on your own.
4) KEEP BELEIVING!!!
To your sucess
Hey,
I just wanted to say thanks for the review. I’ve been researching wp mage ’cause i’ve been considering buying it. but,, not anymore. thanks for saving me a few bucks. i’m not a newbie but was just doing research. i think that’s a huge part before buying any IM products. just do your research and hopefully, people will find the truth such as you have provided here. I needed someone to convince me not to buy.
Thanks,,
Robert X
Hello,
I just happened upon your site while looking for a review of something totally unrelated to the the Mage product review that I just read.
I too was taken in by the webinar touting the CP Mage . I must say that the webinar was “spellbinding” and given by a sorcerer.
The plug ins are very good and if used properly, can be of great assistance in building your blog empire.
If used with the spray and pray technique, it seems as if the user is only adding to the spam that is out there…
Thanks for the unbiased review.. And Yes, Mike Johnson’s ABB is perhaps the most comprehensive course available..it is done with honesty and integrity that is difficult to find in the internet malestrom
I can say good & bad. I purchased the mage system back in April . I have used it to build 23 sites & they now make me over $100 a month with adsense & an additional 40 to $60 with Amazon & CJ. I find the system easy but it is not my focus. Now the things I don’t like. I personally thing Greg is an idiot & his training videos suck. He can’t just talk like a normal person. I personally would never buy anything he recomends. I told him he should learn to build a trust with his list, since he doesn’t have a clue how to be personable. Greg may make money online, but he will always stand out to me as one of the biggest losers I have ever dealt with.
hey Rick, your comment made me laugh…..i agree Greg has used Mage to just products to unsuspecting mage users. plugins work but wp robot is just as good now. there are so many bad internet marketers that only care about the next product or joint venture launch and lose focus on the customer that i why i continue to recomment Autoblog Blueprint so much on this site because its a phenomenal product and founder Mike is hype-free
I had to request a refund for WP Mage when the hosting company recommended by Greg could not fix a problem with my domain names directed at their server. I got the refund from WP Mage immediately, but not from Coolhandle. THEy still owe me $179.40 since the end of June. Countless support tickets raised with Coolhandle and countless phone calls to their support department, from UK to USA has yeilded nothing excpet messages saying – please do not raise multiple support tickets. there’s no phone number to contact billing department. I have three times, while on the phone to Coolhandle support, closed the account, and got messages asking why I wanted to close the account. The account is still sitting open. I can go in and see I have all thses support tickets and one in June is still marked ‘pending”. The WP Mage program was much bigger and complicated that the promtional video indicated. Reading the reviews above I’m glad I cancelled when I did.
#Furious:
seems very strange that Cool Handle didnt refund…..but they state they have a 30day guarantee so if you asked for a refund after that date then might be out of luck. always read terms of service, especially for shared hosting (there is fine print, nothing is truly unlimited then they advertise “unlimited hosting”…..i mean do people really think they can host 300domains on a $5 a month hosting account ?
honestly, WP Mage method is pretty basic in regards to autoblogging. I try to explain on this site that autoblogging like any internet marketing method takes work. unfortunately there are a lot of gurus that sell that dream to unsuspecting new marketers.
so far the best affiliate program for me is Amazon Affiliate. they have high tier rates and great payout :’”
HI, Maybe you know how can I purchase wpmage.com?
you want to buy wpmage.com or the WP mage product ? for product, not sure if its for sale right now. it is opened back up occasionally when it’s promoted by a specific guru for their mailing list. you could probably sign up on the wpmage homepage and it might be offered via the mailing list. I dont have an affiliate link for it as I never bothered signing as an affiliate to promote it.
When I Googled for a review of WPMage I wasn’t expecting this kind of review. I like the honesty in the review and leaving it upto the enquirer as to whether they should proceed with buying it. I am happy about the mention of ABB2 because I took a “correct direct” there to and came upon it by chance a couple of months ago. The forum has a bunch of great members and I have learnt a lot from them. I am just about to follow their instructions and start with 20 blogs on a VPS. Hopefully in a few months they will be earning some money.
Thanks again for the most honest review I have read.
Bulibasa
thanks for the comment Bublibasa. Is that website in your contact info 1 of your sites ? some tips on that site – do you have a way that you plan to monetize that…….there is no meta descriptions of keywords so are you using an SEO plugin with your site ? you have “wordpress themes” listed as a category ? have you laid out your keyword to focus on when setting up that site…..also the article looks very detailed . you could break out up into more articles to spread that original content out.
Great information, thank you.
I have both WP Mage and ABB. They both have auto content feature.
May I ask your opinion: what about building sites with WP Mage, then using Auto Blog Blueprint’s Auto Blog Buddy and Social Linker to build backlinks? I bought the ABB premium for $67/mo but not sure its worth the investment. The pitch is, “Social Linker PRO (Want links?)
Automatically Promote Your Blog With An Unlimited Amount of Accounts at Each of The Included Social Services.” Is this alone worth $67? Do you have a recommendation on building backlinks? I didn’t like the auto content from Syndicate Kahuna in ABB because it leaves three links in each article leading away from my site. Both ABB and WP Mage have a “translator” feature that converts imported articles from english to french back to english, etc. Overall, WP Mage seems easier to use than ABB’s “auto installer”. The course material in ABB is better than WP Mage, no doubt. I agree with other posts that Greg Jacobs in a pimp for crap products and has abanonded really improving or supporting WP Mage and is off to selling his product on creating your own product.
Can you please elaborate more on your experience with how to get effective traffic? Backlinks, article marketing, what do you use?
What about using WP Mage to build sites, import ads, articles, etc, then installing Auto Blog Buddy for “social linker” to build backlinks? Workable combination?
Also, can you expand on why you use phpbay, phpzon and reviewazon? What are these used for and why are they better than WP Mage’s Ebay import feature? Thanks so much.
Addlink – just to clarify, you talking about “Blog Blueprint” not AUTO Blog Blueprint? It’s unfortunate that Blog Blueprint creators used an almost identical name to the already established Autoblog Blueprint. I recomment AUTOblog Blueprint from Mike Johnson but I don’t recomment Blog Blueprint because the reason you identify. Blog Blueprint I wrote about, see post , but i only read thru the presell stuff and it was a very, very basic summary of some parts of Autoblog Blueprint. Also the Blog Blueprint is full of upsells to their other products. In the past having all your sites tied into a link farm like that with others all using the same method is recipe for disaster. Google is getting smarter. WP Mage is the content source but for links you can use social media, article writing, advanced backlinks products (SE Nuke, Bookmarking Demon, etc,,,) I have never used social linker but there are other social link sites services out there either free through wordpress plugins or paid monthly service like tweetly, marketmesuite, hootsuite that will submit to twitter, facebook, ping.fm,etc…..Autoblog Blueprint 3.0 coming out is going to be excellent but Autoblog Blueprint is closed right now til the update.
Regarding WP Mage, WP Robot has surpassed WP Mage in capability and more functionality. Wish WP Mage would upgrade more. WP Mage will generate the content but it sucks for creating backlinks. that is up to you. Autoblog BLueprint has tons of info with a specific roadmap for bulding out site that will actually rank and generate traffic and the best forums out there about the latest backlinks methods/tools/tips. There is so much to cover of traffic methods I cant write it all. In your comment I don’t know what is included in BLOG Blueprint autoinstaller but I use the autoinstaller setup from AUTOblog Blueprint which is phenomenal.
I like to mix content and I use WP mage to mix templates with phpzon/phpbay and reviewazon for products. I also sometimes mix in WP Tweetbomb to bring in related content articles which creates tons of backlinks and unique articles. WP Robot is also a good source for pulling content. I have been testing some sources for distributing ping.fm posts since ping.fm has removed their aPI support from lots of verndors. Ping.fm was a good source for backlinks. I like Wordtwit free plugin for submitting each post from a site automatically to twitter. I use phpbay/phpzon because the url are SEO friendly/nice looking and have better layout/apprearance. also phpbay has essential click frand prevention which Mage needs. Even Greg Jacobs uses phpbay/phpzon for his ebay/amazon feeds. Reviewazon just came out with version 2.0 beta right now and its awesome for amazon products. reviewazon posts has 10x more capability than just pulling amazon products like mage/phpzon but phpzon uses template tage so easy to insert with mage templates when using posting mage
I think I got all your questions. let me know
Sorry, noob question here…What does ‘blasting’ out sites mean exactly? in fact what does blasting mean in general? cant find a definition for it anywhere.
blasting out sites means simply creating a huge site(especially on a brand new domain) with like 5000 posts with no work setting it up or thoughts about keywords, site structure(categories/site content), site appearance, etc….essentially creating lots of sites with automated content that looks like spam sites and won’t last very long in search engines. a few years ago people were creating 5+ sites a day with something like 10,000 posts each……as google gets smarter you will have harder time ever making money on those sites…..I have had sites with 30,000 posts indexed and make little money….so just having thousands of posts indexed wont means much if there are all ranked on page 3or4 in google. hope that helped….
WP mage base plugins are helpful if automating the content and integrating affiliate products but you have to work a little harder and smarter to get the site to last. As i mentioned in my post Ebay product feeds are the main money maker of many WP Mage sites and of sites I have created where I just blasted out sites, the ones with ebay are the only reason they get traffic because Ebay new auction are automatically being updates/refreshed on the site so it creates new content and unique keywords……but i dont even use Mage for ebay, I pull all my ebay feeds with phpBay plugin
My brother suggested I might like this web site. He was once totally right. This publish actually made my day. You cann’t consider simply how a lot time I had spent for this information! Thank you!
It would be nice if you had dates next to the posts, would
give us a better idea of the significance, and time line of
each post
